Celebrating 40 Years of Legal Excellence

This year marks the 40th anniversary of the founding of our Firm! Our story began when our founding members met in the labour law department of a Toronto-based full-service firm. In 1982, these lawyers set out on their own to found a law firm dedicated to excellence in management-side labour and employment law: Winkler, Filion & Wakely. The Firm was renamed as Filion Wakely Thorup Angeletti LLP in 1999. In 1993, the Honourable Warren K. Winkler, O.C., O.Ont., K.C., was appointed to the judiciary and later served as Chief Justice of Ontario. Since our beginnings, we have expanded beyond our Toronto roots to open offices across Southwestern Ontario and develop strong interjurisdictional networks through Advocates for Employers of Canada (“AEC”) and L&E Global. Our team members have found success as leading lawyers, investigators, lecturers, and adjudicators. Of most importance to us, over the course of our Firm’s history we have been committed to supporting our clients through their workplace issues and the ever-changing world of work. We are proud to deliver high-quality representation to our clients, and we are excited to continue serving our clients in line with our mission of personalized, proactive, and pre-eminent legal solutions. Thanks to our clients, staff, and colleagues for making this milestone achievement possible. We are fortunate to have spent the past four decades building deep relationships with our clients, fostering the development of new legal talent, and guiding the development of Canadian labour and employment law. We look forward to working together for many more years to come!
