Executive Summary

As a member of the Firm since 2009 and a partner since 2016, Brian practices across all areas of labour and employment law, representing a diverse range of unionized, non-union, and federally regulated clients. He has acted as counsel in numerous significant arbitrations, wrongful dismissal cases, and proceedings before the Ontario Labour Relations Board and the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario.

Brian has coordinated litigation strategies with employer associations and their members, particularly during open season/raiding periods and related litigation. He also regularly advises on workplace safety and insurance and occupational health and safety matters.

Brian’s practice has a particular focus on the construction industry and the transportation sector. He regularly appears before the Labour Relations Board representing construction industry clients in section 133 grievances, jurisdictional disputes, related employer/sale of business matters, applications for certification and unfair labour practices.

Brian has extensive experience in collective bargaining and has served as lead spokesperson for federally and provincially regulated employers in both public and private sectors, including manufacturing, trucking, construction, professional services, and social welfare. Brian advises on collective agreement language, co-authored a leading text on the topic, and supports employers through conciliation, strikes, and injunctions where necessary. Brian believes in providing clients straight-forward, efficient solutions to manage complex workplace situations.
